Jeff Byers "Ironhead"
A 20 year veteran, Jeff "Ironhead" Byers has been involved in radio since his sophomore year at Penn State. Byers was raised in Lemont, graduated State College Area high school in 1987 and got an extra year of education before graduating from Penn State in 1992. He has hosted a variety of sports and news talk shows over the years and has covered and called local high school sports. Jeff has also served as the voice of Penn State wrestling since 1991. Byers was the first radio broadcaster to be named WIN magazines "journalist of the year" and was named broadcaster of the year by the National Wrestling Media Association in 2006. While he spent brief stints in Punxsutawney as a sports producer at KDKA radio in Pittsburg, most of radio career has been spent in Centre County. He has never been shy about sharing his opinion and takes a genuine interest in local athletes, coaches and fans. He is grateful for the many relationships he has formed over the years by covering the news and sports for Centre County.
